OKI KORO’s musical inspiration and influences cover the whole spectrum of sound, but when DJing, he enjoys it most when he’s playing House Music. Call it what you want or put different tags to his style of music — in the end of the day everyone agrees that it evokes your raw emotions.
As the founder of DSIX, a Jakarta based House Music Collective, OKI KORO has paid his dues playing countless underground and high profile events throughout Indonesia and abroad — sharing the limelight with the likes of Diz, Derrick Carter, Deep Dish, Dennis Ferrer, Karizma, Louie Vega, Osunlade, Jaques Renault, Chocolate Puma, Mad Mats, Felix Da Housecat, Phil Weeks, Dean (Darker than Wax), Harry Choo Choo Romero and many more – all further cementing his status as a major DJ to be reckoned with in the region.
In 2008, the Heineken Thirst DJ Committee awarded Oki Koro a certificate of recognition for being one of the finalists in the 2008 Heineken Thirst Music Championship. In 2009/10/11, he was nominated as House DJ & Resident DJ of The Year in the Ravelex Electronic Dance Music Awards (REDMA), landed at number 37 in the TOP 50 poll. After receiving nominations in FREE Magazine’s at HRFM Paranoia Awards.
Holding residencies in the past at numerous venues in Jakarta and abroad, he currently resides at Immigrant (Jakarta) as one of their respected resident DJs. Though he has been producing tons of material for personal use, a worldwide release came about in 2013, with singles “Angry Dolphin” under Tequila Traxx (USA) and a remix for Dustpan Recordings (SIN), receiving plays by legends Mark Farina, Derrick Carter, DJ Sneak and many others.
